While I have taught writing for the past several years in classrooms around Pittsburgh*, I have substantial experience working one-on-one with writers as a private writing teacher or writing “coach,” and I’m always eager for additional opportunities to help writers hone their craft.
As a private writing teacher, fiction teacher, and coach, I offer close personal attention and detailed feedback on individual work. I provide students with in-depth comments on their work and mark their pages extensively. Most importantly, I’m available for students to then discuss any comments I have made. (I have worked with students remotely in the past; my services are not limited to Pittsburgh residents.)
My services are ideal for writers at varying levels of experience and across genres, from those looking for feedback in the art and craft of fiction to younger students who’ve displayed an interest in and talent for writing. In particular, I’m greatly interested in working with students on issues of process, helping to develop the discipline and habits needed to improve and succeed as a writer.
My range of experiences, from running writing workshops at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, to working as a copyeditor, to teaching multiple kinds of writing at local universities, makes me an ideal coach to help you take your writing to the next level. I am happy to meet students where they are, tailoring lessons and feedback to best serve the student.
If you’ve been looking for personalized input into your writing and one-on-one attention as a writer, please feel free to drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
*To date, I have taught writing courses at the University of Pittsburgh, the Community College of Allegheny County, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
